GlobalSOMA hosted “Teens Read to Kids – Global Edition” in conjunction with Maplewood Memorial Library.

In this initiative, local teens are trained by library staff and GlobalSOMA representatives on how to read to young kids and encourage them to think about different places and cultures around the world. Teens read various short stories to the younger children.  The stories introduce children to places, customs, foods and people from different parts of the globe.

At the first session on July 2, 2012, there were approximately 25 people in attendance including the teens, kids and parents/care-givers.    A second session was held on July 16th and focused on the Chinese folk tale “The Empty Pot”.
